Butter is in my mind the most important food item ever concieved. I was discussing this at lunch with the guys at Kirkham Systems and we haven't been able to come up with an answer yet. Without further adue.
Name one food that adding butter to it will make it taste worse. Sounds simple right, here is the catch butter can be added in any of its forms, for example a salad could have a melted butter dressing poured over it. Name a food that tastes worse when you add butter no matter what!
I have yet to get a conclusive answer so lets see your comments and what you come up with.
You can rule out the following food groups.
Meat + Bread

Pickles
Not answering the question
It's not asking what would be improved, but what would be made worse by adding butter. Sorry

ice cream + butter = lethal
Melted butter drips that freeze as they run off the cone!
Sounds like it could have promise do we have a contender?

Jake the Great loves Soylent Green
Soylent Green's sutle and slighty crunchy texture and flavor, I believe, would be detrimentally compromised with butter. Soylent green is a stand alone food and should be kept that way! I have no idea what it is made of, but it's flavor should never be sullied by any other common food.
Easy
Well, a salad with melted butter would be awful, so I believe you already answered your question, but I'll play anyway.
A RAW apple dipped in butter, in any form, would be awful. There are certain dairy enzymes present in butter that change the way some foods taste.
Drink milk and eat an apple. You'll see. The same would happen with butter. However, cook that apple with the butter and now you're talking art.
I'll go with raw apples would not be improved with butter.
I've never had a raw apple with butter
I think that a cooked apple butter is truely great as well...
I'm not sure I think I'll try it just to make sure it's bad before I just take you on your word.
Here is a recipy for a butter bassed salad dressing
4 tablespoons butter
1 shallot, chopped
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons honey
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the shallot and cook until the shallot is tender and the butter turns a light brown color, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the vinegar, honey, and salt and pepper.
So maybe a butter sauce over a raw apple would taste good as well? any ideals anybody
